A Fully Portable Setup for the Visual Recital

The Visual Recital is now fully portable, musically and visually speaking!

I've invested in some cutting edge digital piano technology which includes the following:

A Roland RD-700SX Digital Piano

A Muse Research Receptor, which houses high resolution sound sample libraries like the Ivory pianos from Synthogy

Pianoteq, a sophisticated piano simulator, which runs off of a third Tablet PC (one being for reading music, the other for triggering the visuals)

A pair of JBL Eon 15 G2 self-powered speakers

Music Meets Tech #22: Visual Recital at Darlington Arts Center

Here is a video sample from last Saturday's Visual Recital at Darlington Arts Center. The Visual Recital is a new approach to integrating visuals with live music where the musician controls the digitized visualizations directly as an enhancement of the musical performance. Two movements from Charles B. Griffin's "Vernacular Dances" are featured in this clip - apologies in advance for the lack of camera angles and the poor sound quality, the pvc frame setup left me with no time to get my extra cameras or microphones in order! The audio was actually extracted from the camcorder microphone, cleaned up a bit and reinserted...

This video performance is being presented both as a Windows-compatible WMV file (approximately 27.7 MB) and as an iPod-compatible Video Podcast (88 MB for the video iPod format). Running time is appoximately 7.5 minutes.
. A higher resolution Quicktime movie is also available, clocking in at 109 MB in size.
