Almost here: My new CD!
After 15 years of composing and nearly a year of recording and production, my first CD of all-original songs based on the Book of Psalms is almost here!
"Psalms: Hyssop & Snow" will contain 23 tracks of brand new, all-original settings of Psalms and Hymn texts for congregational worship. We're running an initial rush production of 100 CDs before starting a full production run, mainly to have some copies available for my recital with violinist Maurice Sklar at the Healing Rooms in Santa Maria, CA on Saturday, August 29th at 7 pm.
The title "Hyssop & Snow" is a reference to Psalm 51:7 - "Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean; wash me, and I will be whiter than snow." Following the tradition of the great Psalm settings of the past, this is an effort to restore the practice of Psalm singing in worship. Most of the Psalms in this album are sung in their entirety, with others containing significant portions of Scripture rather than just a verse or two. I tried to create a variety of styles, with the primary goal of making the music serve the words.
The first 100 advance copies are on their way by FedEx this morning. I'm hoping for safe delivery so that we can have them available tonight!
Many thanks to my dear friends Maurice and Devorah Sklar for spearheading this project, and to the Healing Rooms of Santa Maria for their support in making this possible! And of course, my heartfelt thanks to all the amazing musicians who contributed their talent, time, and faith!
Once we are ready for a full production run, I'll be posting a full announcement letting you know where you can get your copy. In the meantime, you can hear this pre-mastered version of Psalm 1, featuring Greg Wiggins on vocals, Maurice Sklar as violin soloist, Eric Uglum on guitar and mandolin, the Healing Rooms of Santa Maria Choir, a wonderful string quartet, and yours truly on the piano. Enjoy!
Stay tuned for updates on the full release of "Psalms: Hyssop & Snow". Lots of great stories to tell about how this amazing project all came together!
Soli Deo Gloria!
